A combination of guaranteed parking, a short train ride, and enjoyment.
Q-Park, the Municipality of Valkenburg aan de Geul, and Arriva have announced a new collaboration to facilitate transportation to and from Christmas Town Valkenburg. By utilizing existing parking locations in Heerlen in combination with public transport, parking pressure in Valkenburg is reduced. This approach enhances the travel experience for Christmas enthusiasts while making part of their journey more sustainable through the use of public transport.
The solution of combining parking and public transport locations can also be applied in other cities in the future. Earlier this year, this method was successfully implemented in collaboration with MOJO for the Pinkpop festival.
A total of seven Q-Park parking garages in Heerlen, offering around 700 parking spots per day, are available. These garages are spread throughout the city center, all within walking distance of the train station. The combination of a guaranteed parking spot and a train ride is available for one day. Tickets are priced at €17.50.
With this so-called Park & Train ticket, you can park all day and travel by train from Heerlen to Valkenburg and back with up to five people. The train journey takes only 10 minutes. The guaranteed parking spot and train ticket can be reserved via the Glimble website and app.
